Anglesea Golf Club Has Kangaroos Everywhere

There are so many kangaroos at Anglesea Golf Club on Victoria's Great Ocean Road that the club has been running lucrative kangaroos tours for years.

And international tourists with no interest whatsoever in golf come to the Golf Club from far and wide just to catch a glimpse of the massive population of eastern gray roos roaming the property.

There's nothing to fear if you're playing golf at Anglesea because the roos have become so accustomed to golfers that they'll sit quietly nearby as you play your shot and walk by.

In fact, they're so relaxed that it's not unusual to have to encourage them to move if your golf ball comes to rest very close to them.

The golf course at Anglesea is among the better ones in regional Victoria.

There is a rugged natural feel to it and an aerial view of the layout offers an appreciation for the wonderful hinterland which surrounds it.

The fairways are quite undulating with many dogleg holes - some which are quite difficult and others less so - and the walk is more arduous than most courses.

A par-73, the course has five par-fives and a nice mix of par-threes.

Perhaps the most thrilling shot is the tee shot at the par-five 18th which plays from an elevated tee with a significant drop to the fairway before the hole climbs back up another hill to the green.

After your round, find a comfortable spot on the clubhouse's outdoor deck which overlooks the 18th green.
