A sure-fire way to make a golf club stand out from its competitors is to build a short course to complement an 18-hole course.
And that's exactly what Latrobe Golf Club in Melbourne has done.
It's built a five-hole par-three course - known as The Island Course - around a dam in the north-eastern corner of the Club's property.
And you probably won't need your driver to play it because, from the back tees, the holes range from 84 metres to 149 metres in length.
With the help of a financial grant from the Victorian Government, Latrobe commissioned OCM Golf to design the short course.
And while its completion was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the result is impressive.
One of the greatest aspects of the course is how quickly it can be played.
Hitting two balls on each hole, it took this writer about 30 minutes.
