Exploring the Abandoned Olinda Golf Course near Melbourne, Australia

When we heard there was an abandoned golf course in the Dandenongs east of Melbourne, we just had to go and check it out.

About a 50-minute drive east of Melbourne's CBD is where you'll find the former Olinda Golf Course.

It closed in 2012 for reasons which aren't entirely clear and remnants of the old layout remain visible today.

The building which was once the clubhouse is derelict with cracked glass, a boarded-up interior with dilapidated furniture and a badly damaged balcony.

Anybody who played golf at Olinda will know it was one of the hilliest golf courses you could find.

Since the golf course closure, a children's playground and sports oval have been built near the entrance and car park.

Down the hill from there, the outlines of the old fairways and greens are clear and they are now frequented by dog walkers and bush walkers.
